Autolyse Sydney
If there's one thing I love more than a quaint and cozy cafe, its a big lofty bakery where good coffee and bread are king. Enter into Autolyse Sydney. With high ceilings and charming industrial fit out, this is the bakery cafe experience that I think has been missing from Sydney City for too long. Sitting pretty in the outdoor section of Sydney's newest complex Central Park, this new spot is set to be a winner with Chippendale locals, uni students and city workers alike.
Owners Mickey Gubas, Darren Perryman and David Damour originally set up camp in Australia's Capital Territory, Canberra and after a very successful run, these bakery bosses have now brought their humble mission to Sydney: to produce the freshest artisan offering, without charging art gallery prices. In fact, nothing on the menu at Autolyse is over $15 - a concept that I think Sydney siders will be more than thankful for.
I stopped in with two friends for brunch, coffee and some pastries. The service was wonderfully warm, and our meals wholesome and delicious. Our salads came with a generous portion of house baked bread, and I swear I would have been satisfied on the bread alone. I don't remember the last time I left a Sydney city cafe with a full belly and a full heart. I guess there's something to be said for the fact that you can actually see the bakers at work and on this particular day the energy was exceptional, and it definitely translated to the food on our plates. Pure love.
