The Ultimate 4 Hour Staycation
In the lead up to my little sister's wedding, I struggled to find time to take a step back and exhale. Jess and I are the youngest of 7 children. With Jess being the last of us to wed, we're no strangers to the wedding planning process. But with a guest list that was 400 strong and multiple events to plan and cater for, we spent every waking moment planning, shopping, styling, and perfecting all the details, that by the time we reached the 7 day countdown, we were in need of some serious TLC.
One week out from the wedding, I decided to lock in some downtime for myself, and of course, the bride. Jess and I booked ourselves in for a staycation at The Langham Spa in Sydney where we forced ourselves to ignore our phones, switch off the nerves, and let the quiet calm atmosphere bring us back down to earth. Jess opted for an hour long massage, while I enjoyed a Dr Babor Facial. As young girls, Jess and I admired our big sisters Claire and Rita who owned a day spa where their key product was Babor - they swore by it, and now we do, too.
There was something about the entire experience that made us feel as though we were on holiday. What I love about this spa, is that it's not your run of the mill beauty salon. With every treatment booked, patrons also have access to a fully equipped fitness centre, heated spa, sauna, steam room, not to mention a gorgeous pool enveloped by a star studded canopy. After a blissful facial where I spent an hour drifting in and out of sleep, Jess and I met in the lounge area of the spa for an afternoon tea of cheese, fruit, and the best mocktails we've ever tasted...(hey - it just didn't seem right to have a boozy drink after such a detoxifying experience.) We enjoyed the rest of our afternoon by the pool, and topped it off with a session in the steam room, where Jessica overcame her feeling of claustrophobia quite quickly! Another feature that added to the holiday feeling was access to a fully equipped shower and powder room. Nothing worse than leaving a massage feeling sticky and greasy.
Close to our hearts, Babor is the reason why we chose to visit the The Langham in the first place. Mainly because we had 100% confidence that we'd be happy with the product and service. What we weren't expecting, was the feeling we had when we walked out. After 4 hours of pure relaxation, Jess and I left The Langham and felt as though we were floating on air. The ultimate 4 hour staycation - achieved.
