Sweet Tricks - The Oreo Cupcake Base

My nephew is a self confessed Oreo addict. So it came as no surprise to me that he requested Oreo themed cakes for his recent birthday party. I did a little research into the yummiest cookies & creme style cupcakes and with a little tweaking, this is what I came up with. I used a simple vanilla cupcake recipe for the cake. The buttercream I use is always the Magnolia Vanilla Buttercream recipe, except this time, I processed a packet of Oreos until it resembled a sandy crumb. I folded it into the buttercream and piped the cupcakes with this delicious muddy mess. Topped with a mini oreo, and the kids were in love!

The real treat? Hiding a whole Oreo at the base of the cupcake. So simple, and so effective. Just place a whole cookie in the cupcake liner before pouring the batter in, and bake as per usual.
