Sweet Surprises

IMG_7674My family love to host parties. We often struggle to differentiate between cooking for a Friday night gathering of 50, and a Monday night dinner for 5. Regardless, the outcome is always the same... we're all about cooking for the masses and sending people home with full and fuzzy tummies.

The month of June was a crazy time for us, as we hosted the last wedding of 7 - (yes, I am one of 7 children, born of two super hero parents.) My youngest sister Jess married her sweetheart Jason one week before I turned 30, so I put party plans on the back burner. This was completely fine, because Kevin and I planned to celebrate during our time in the US, and celebrate we certainly did! But that wasn't good enough for my amazing sisters. Queens of DIY and party hosting, the girls made it a point to host an incredible brunch upon our return and set about inviting my closest friends to join our family celebrations.

The table seemed to stretch for days, lined with all my favourite food. Antipasto and cheese, olive bread, pancakes, waffles, donuts and Lebanese bakery goods that warm my heart. My lovely friend Erin made a gorgeous two tiered vanilla cake with Nutella buttercream - the perfect sweet finale.

I went home that day feeling incredibly blessed. To the onesΒ who make my life sweeter each day and for never turning away when the sugar runs low. Thank you.
