Tastes like NYC
Now I know this isn't a typical post for Project Sweet Stuff, but after 3 long years of cravings I finally found the Sydney equivalent to something I found in New York City. Way back in June 2009, I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with some awesome musicians in NYC's Chinatown. We enjoyed a late dinner of what they called Dim Sum, better known to me as Yum Cha. We ordered the most unbelievable vegan dumplings ever created. It was the mushroom dumpling that had me at hello, and I've been searching for a similar dumpling experience ever since, but to no avail. Until today.
Over the past few weeks, I have been out with my husband looking for the same dumpling experience. We tried three different places. One was good, one was terrible, and one was pretty much perfect. I call it, the Goldilocks effect. Allow me to share with you a most wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon lunching in Sydney city, especially if you have an affinity for the vegan experience like me.

Earlier in the day, I called ahead to make a booking for two, but more importantly to double check they would be serving some form of steamed mushroom dumpling. I was delighted to hear the gentleman tell me about two different mushroom selections. My heart sang. We arrived at about 1:30, after finding a quick and easy $10 park underneath St Mary's Cathedral, and took the super short walk to the restaurant. We were seated out doors in a breezy setting, a rather refreshing way to enjoy dumplings - very different to my two crammed experiences. I noticed so many different trays of food floating around, but I guess I was only interested in one of them. When the tray of mushroom dumplings came out, I just knew it was going to be good. It had to be. After my first bite, I knew Bodhi was the one.
I'll continue the hunt for the Sydney equivalent of my favourite travel goodies, and can't wait to share the goods. Make sure you visit tomorrow to find out what happened after my Bodhi experience, and to enter a delightful little prize giveaway!
