Let Them Eat Cake!
Sunday the 4th of May 2014 marked the first celebration in the lead up to my little sister Jessica's wedding. As Jess is the last of my siblings to walk down the isle, this could only mean one thing; the time had come to pull out all the bells and whistles, especially when it came to the food. And of course, it was my duty to take care of the sweet stuff. With great pleasure, that's exactly what I did!
The theme of the day was 'Around the World'. The stunning lunch buffet featured the best of Lebanese, Mauritian, Italian, Chinese, and all sorts of European favourites. But when it came to the cake buffet, I decided to style something reminiscent of a Parisian bakery window. So I made a few cakes to bring this vision to life, and decorated with fresh flowers, chocolate and linen ribbon. The featured flavours included: red velvet and raspberry; chocolate mud on white chocolate ganache; vanilla cake with fluffy whipped milk chocolate ganache; carrot and orange with toasted almond; and coconut cake with strawberry white chocolate ganache.
Just in case 10 tiers of cake was not enough, strawberry tarts, almond cookies, mille feuille, and a multitude of pastries and cupcakes filled the cake stands behind the main display.
