Little Cupcakes Melbourne

Every time I visit Melbourne, I make it a point to pass through Degraves Laneway at least once. There's something about this narrow stretch of boutiques and cafes that makes me feel like I'm further away from home than I actually am.

Nestled between a cafe and a burger joint is a gorgeous sweet spot fittingly named Little Cupcakes. There are three locations all within walking distance of each other in Melbourne City, but because this one is in Degraves, it's the one I always walk past. This time, I actually stepped in to take a peek at the pastel woodland themed interior. After much deliberation, I decided to be good and sampled one little carrot cupcake. One.

On the higher end of the mini cupcake price point, these little babies cost $2.50 each. But if my carrot cupcake was enough to go by, they're worth every little bite. This quality cupcake was moist, fresh and for the first time in a long time, I ate all the frosting. (I'm the weirdo who removes most of the frosting on my cupcakes because I like a 90% cake to 10% frosting ratio. Quit judging.)

I was so proud of my willpower when I walked out having just sampled one cupcake. Seriously, it was one decent bite and was just enough to satiate the 2pm sweet craving. But by the time I was two blocks away, I was struck with the bitter pang of regret. I should have bought at least 2 more. Worst decision ever.

I'll be back, Little Cupcakes... and this time I'll leave my willpower at home.
